Peak Construction Corporation is performing construction management services as part of the Central Grocers Team completion of a “state of the art” dry, refrigerated and frozen food distribution facility.
Mike Sullivan, president and founder of Peak Construction Corporation, announces that the firm is part of the development team selected by Central Grocers to provide complete project management oversight for all development, design, and construction activities required to complete Central Grocers’ new 934,490 SF dry, refrigerated and frozen food distribution facility at 2600 West Haven Avenue in Joliet, IL.
“The new Central Grocers food distribution center will be a completely racked high efficiency operation incorporating an energy efficient multi-staged ammonia refrigeration system, recently perfected hydrogen power lift truck technology, and the newest model of vertical stored hydraulic dock equipment and controls. The structural bay spacing for the entire facility was optimized based upon pallet rack efficiency and the final building layout permits over 400 employees to come and go across multiple shifts without having to encounter any of the semi-truck vehicles. This distribution center will be the benchmark of excellence for food distribution within Central Grocers industry.” said Sullivan.
The project scope included the analysis and evaluation of multiple land sites and numerous developers competing to design and construct the Central Grocers new food distribution center. The 934,490 SF facility will be operated by over 400 professionals supported by a cafeteria, fitness center, and human resources department.
The project is located at 2600 West Haven Ave in Joliet, IL.
