“The new Central Grocers food distribution center will be a completely racked high efficiency operation incorporating an energy efficient multi-staged ammonia refrigeration system, recently perfected hydrogen power lift truck technology, and the newest model of vertical stored hydraulic dock equipment and controls. The structural bay spacing for the entire facility was optimized based upon pallet rack efficiency and the final building layout permits over 400 employees to come and go across multiple shifts without having to encounter any of the semi-truck vehicles. This distribution center will be the benchmark of excellence for food distribution within Central Grocers industry.” said Sullivan.
